Laboratory Consulting
PA was challenged with integrating cleanrooms and open-concept laboratories into a building that was never intended for such specialized use. Originally constructed without a sprinkler system, the project required the addition of code-compliant fire suppression systems to support the desired open lab layout and glass-walled cleanroom corridors—which also served as emergency egress routes due to space constraints. PA worked closely with the Webster Fire Marshal to resolve several longstanding life safety and combustibility issues. With only 13 feet of floor-to-floor height, the team executed a highly coordinated design to successfully accommodate the cleanrooms and their complex mechanical systems within the limited vertical space.
Key Features:
- Cleanrooms and open labs integrated into an existing, non-lab building
- Code-compliant life safety and fire protection retrofit
- Complex mechanical systems fit within a 13-foot floor-to-floor height
